Because it’s easy to change a 7 into an 8 when you write the date incorrectly.
Why You Should Be Excited About 2008 Wednesday, Jan 2 2008
Uncategorized checks, dates, practical matters, surely there are other reasons to be excited but I can', the new year 4:01 am

Hadn’t thought about that
Merci!

Actually, it’s 0008, but don’t tell anybody.
January 2, 2008 at 5:05 am |
Damn skippy!
January 2, 2008 at 6:00 am |
Well I knew it wasn’t because of the bowl games, I’m glad there’s something quantifiable to like this early on….

David, you don’t know how much you made me laugh!
Oh, and for the record, I don’t make those kinds of mistakes!
(I guess that means I only make the kind that cannot be corrected!)
January 2, 2008 at 8:59 am |
Oh good. I knew there had to be something.
January 2, 2008 at 9:04 am |
Thanks for the chuckle! Happy New Year, David!

Hadn’t thought about it that way. Good thing too, I usually mess it up until about August.

I know! Changing a 6 to a 7 all year was such a bummer. Made me look like such a slob.

Happy New Year, David! How was yours?
Little news flash: after nearly a year of being addicted to your blog, and wishing with increasing frequency that I practiced blogging myself, one of my 2008 resolutions has been to try it. I just posted my first entry, paying tribute to you as inspiration. I hope you’ll drop by now and again.

But I still don’t know my way around this site yet. For instance, I thought my user name would now show up as a link, along with my little icon, but that hasn’t happened. When you have a moment, could you show me the ropes?
January 2, 2008 at 11:28 am |
Okay, sorry to clutter your comment section… the icon didn’t show up before, but now it’s there. I’m posting one last time to see if my name will link to the site this time.

January 2, 2008 at 8:24 pm |
hehehe…happy new year, dear david!!
January 2, 2008 at 11:05 pm |
Oh brilliant! I didn’t even think about that! That is something to be excited about! Especially for someone who works with a lot of deposits and transactions! You’ve just made my year!
January 3, 2008 at 12:45 am |
Happy New Year, Mr. Rochester! Wishing you all good things in abundance.
And that’s very handy about the 7 to 8, I agree.
January 3, 2008 at 3:52 am |
Just occurred to me that it is just as easy to make that change for 2009, as long as you don’t ever remember that it is 2008 by the end of the year and are still writing 2007 by next January 2. Two for the price of one or something like that.
January 3, 2008 at 5:51 am |
And have you made that error yet?
Happy New Year again, Dahveed.
January 3, 2008 at 9:28 am |
I followed everyone’s very kind and thoughtful instructions and hopefully my name will now link to my page. Testing…
January 3, 2008 at 9:39 am |
Wow, now it works! Thank you David, Fluffycat and Modestypress!
January 3, 2008 at 11:53 pm |
I wrote my first check of the year with the wrong date. I wasn’t quite ready.
January 5, 2008 at 2:49 pm |
This is by far the best one line post I’ve read this year.
OK. It’s the only one. It makes me want to visit a little fluffy cat. So, that’s what I’m going to do.
Have I mentioned to you that even though you aren’t me, I still think you’re great? If not, I’ll be back with a message for you. If I have, I’ll be back anyway.
