This pretty much sums up why my mother and I get along so well. We are currently at my parents’ beach condo, without my dad, having the first stress-free holiday that either of us can remember. We had an enjoyable evening drinking champagne and playing Trivial Pursuit. At one point in the middle of the game, I announced: “I’ll be right back — I’m going to the bathroom. Do you want anything?”
To which she replied: “No, not from the bathroom.”
Whereupon we laughed until we were gasping for mercy.
I wish all of my readers a merry merriness, and a happy happiness.

Night and day between your mum and your dad eh? Isn’t it wonderful having that kind of connection? I get that with my mom too. Sounds like you’re having a nice Christmas. All the best to you.

Sounds like you had fun! My son and I spent more than one New Year’s Eve drinking Martinelli’s sparkling cider and playing Trivial Pursuit. He didn’t want to go to his dad’s with his sisters so he stayed with me. I think he was about 11 or 12 at the time. We did it more than once.
So I know it can be fun. We also used to play card games for M&M’s instead of money. He was my pal.

Thanks for that laugh. I’m hoping that you’ll take this recounting as an exchange in laughter. At dinner, we were discussing the chemistry of digestion. My sweetie was explaining how it is that things are turned brown during digestion. This prompted one of the people at the table (not me) to say “brown dye number 1″ to which my sweetie replied, “no, number 2″ and we all laughed and laughed and laughed.

As we say in Finnish: “Hyvaa Joulua ja Onnellista uutta!” (Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!).
All the best, to you and yours David!
